Florida Expands Housing Assistance for Homeowner Programs

Beginning July 1, 2026, Florida's new state budget and housing laws proide additional support for homebuyers, homeowners, and affordable housing initiatives.
Key highlights include:
$50 Million for the Hometown Heroes Housing Program, offering down payment and closing cost assistance to eligible first responders and essential workers.
$236.5 to the State and Local Government Housing Trust Funds, including $165.7 Million for the State Housing Initiatives Partnership program (SHIP) to help homebuyers with downpayment and closing costs assistance, and $70.8 Million
for the (SAIL) program will help build more affordable rental housing.
Continued funding for My Safe Florida Home and My Safe Florida Condominium programs to help strengthen homes against storms and potentially lower insurance costs.
New housing laws that expand affordable housing opportunities and increase assistance for mobile homeowners.
